HATI NURANI

"In Hati Nurani, a moral crossroads sets the protagonist on an introspective journey, where unseen forces and deeper truths shape his path. As he searches for clarity, each revelation leads him toward a fateful decision—one whose true consequences remain uncertain."

Director’s Statement

Hati Nurani is deeply personal, drawn from my experiences living in both Malaysia and Canada. Inspired by real-life incidents that tested moral boundaries, the film explores dilemmas where doing the right thing isn't always easy. I wanted to capture the tension between personal values and societal expectations—where integrity is challenged, and choices carry unseen consequences.

Rather than portraying these struggles with solemnity, I chose to transform them into a dreamlike comedy—one that carries the weight of moral conscience yet invites the audience to smile along the way. At its heart, the film is about staying true to yourself, even when the path is uncertain.

Visually, I embraced contrast: distant scenes are cinematic and observational, while studio settings burst with brightness and vibrancy. This interplay mirrors the tonal shifts between lightheartedness and deep reflection. The mood is fast-paced and jovial, yet allows space for quiet introspection, encouraging the audience to pause and consider their own values.

At its core, Hati Nurani is a celebration of integrity, humor, and the human journey. It reminds us that even in the most complex situations, our choices define who we are.
